Camping Site in Mountains

Our recent 4 day camping trip in our Roof Top Tent Trailer to Crater Lake National Park in Oregon was full of hiking and exploring. We averaged around 5 to 10 miles of hiking a day. Our top 3 hikes we think you should do if visiting the park: Watchman Lookout Trail, Plaiknai Falls & Pinnacles, and Cleetwood Cove Trail. All were unique and varied between easy to strenuous hikes. The recent wildfires did obstruct some of the gorgeous views of the lake, but it was still a sight to see. The Mazama Campground, with it’s wooded campsites, made for a nice place to rest and relax.

We took the Tuff Stuff Alpha roof top tent camping the first week of July at Islet campground, next to the gorgeous Waldo lake in the Willamette National Forest, which would have been a disaster without our mosquito fighting gear. The mosquitoes were thick everywhere, but we were able to escape them with the help of our camping gear and being out on the beautiful, crystal clear Waldo Lake. The lake itself made dealing with the mosquitoes worth it. If you do venture during mosquito time bring spray, nets, or other repellents, they will be needed.
